Welcome! This page contains information regarding the partnership between MountainServe and LHU's Physician Assistant Program. Here you will find a link to the PA program's Service-Learning Guide as well as a calendar of events for the 2011- 12 academic year.

2011- 12 Calendar of Events
September 2011


7th : Blood Drive at LHUP Rec Center, 12 pm - 6 pm
      • Volunteers needed for set-up from 10:30 am - 11:30 am
      • Volunteers needed for tear-down from 6:45 pm - 7:45 pm
      • Donations appreciated!


11th: National Day of Service
      • The possibilities are endless! Pre-existing opportunities exist all around Pennsylvania, or you can think up your own way to serve!


21st: Blood Pressure Screening, Clearfield YMCA, 6 pm - 8 pm
      • Clearfield PA students (supervised by Curtis) will be setting up a free blood pressure screening for YMCA and community members.
October 2011


1st: Walk from Obesity, PinnacleHealth Community Campus, Harrisburg
      • There may be opportunities for students to assist PinnacleHealth staff at this event. I will have more information in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
      • Students are of course invited to register and participate in the walk itself. More information can be found at http://www.pinnaclehealth.org/classes-events/donor11


2nd: American Heart Association Heart & Stroke Walk, John Rudy County Park, York, 1 pm
      • A fun way to raise awareness for the AHA and get some exercise outside in beautiful York, PA. For information or to register, call (717) 207-4266.




4th: Blood Drive, Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, 10 am - 4 pm
      • Students volunteers needed for set-up, tear-down, and registration. And, of course, donations welcome and accepted!



7th: Health Fair at Roulette Senior Center
      • Charles Cole Memorial Hospital will have a booth at this fair and students are welcome to help. Contact Rayne if interested in participating.


8th: Day of Caring,Action, Clinton County United Way, Lock Haven, 8 am - 12 noon
      • Volunteers will spend the morning assisting senior citizens with minor household clean-up and repairs. For details on the last “Day of Action”, please visit the Clinton County United Way website: http://www.clintoncountyunitedway.org/Day_of_Action.php. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for volunteers!


11th: Start of Hunger Bowl (Lock Haven Campus)
      • Groups are encouraged to plan and implement a project to raise awareness of hunger. Projects can range from raising money, organizing a food drive, etc. Projects begin on October 11th and must be completed by November 3rd. There is a Sleep Out in Triangle Park on the Lock Haven campus November 4th and 5th which groups must participate in. All completed projects will be judged and the most creative/most successful will be chosen. If interested, contact Rayne for more details!


15th: WellSpan "Cribs for Kids" Charity Motorcycle Run, Hoffman Field, York
      • "The City of York is co-sponsoring the ride, which will feature fun for the entire family, bands, great food, games of chance and jars, and a horseshoe contest. You do not need to ride a motorcycle to participate in the fun." The event organizers may need volunteers to assist...stay tuned!


26th: Blood Drive at LHUP Rec Center, 12 pm - 6 pm

November 2011

4th & 5th: Sleep Out in Triangle Park (Lock Haven) for those participating in Hunger Bowl (see October 11th for more info)


12th : Safety Environment Project (Charles Cole Memorial Hospital - Coudersport), 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
      • Students will be used as "emergency patients" during an exercise the hospital completes as part of Safety Awareness Month. Students from all campuses invited!



December 2011

9th: Adopt-a-Family Day (Lock Haven)
      • Financially disadvantaged families in the community are identified and "adopted" by students. Contact Rayne for more info.
