2009 Monthly Activities
If you are interested in volunteering for any of the following activities, please sign-up in the Thread at the bottom of the page.
If you are interested in Big Brother/Big Sister program, but are not a member, you are still able to volunteer at the activities, however please contact Bob Farley to make the arrangements before showing up at an event.
Upcoming Events Our next big event will be a Halloween Party sponsored by students from Lock Haven University. This party will occur on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on the second floor of the old Lock Haven Junior High School at the corner of West Church and Fourth Streets in Lock Haven. This facility is currently known as the Lock Haven University “East” Campus. On the night of the party, please come directly to the party on West Church Street. If any of you need assistance with transportation, please call me. We would like all Littles to wear their Halloween Costume to this party. Bigs, Parents and Volunteers are also invited to wear costumes. We will continue horseback riding in late October and November. At this point, almost all Littles who signed up have gotten to go horseback riding one time. We plan to get a second horseback riding event in before cold weather sets in. We will hopefully continue the horseback riding experience in the Spring of 2010. At this point we are planning on having further horseback riding events on October 20, 22, 28 and November 5, 2009. I will be calling individual Littles to arrange what day they will be horseback riding. There is an Essay Contest that the Littles have been invited to participate in. There will be a limited number of youth in this contest, which should increase the chances of winning a prize. We plan to have three essay writing sessions in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Office. Lock Haven University Students will be present for these Essay writing dates to help the Littles develop and write their essays. Essays will be written on Tuesday, November 3; Tuesday, November 17; and Tuesday, December 8, 2009. This event will occur in the Big Brothers Big Sisters office from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Please call me to sign up and register and also to let me know if you need assistance with transportation to this event. I will plan on having an afternoon snack during the essay writing days.
